HARMONY DAY POSTER COMPETITION

The purpose of Harmony Day is to strengthen our sense of belonging, respect and understanding of cultural diversity. At Sirius College KBC we pride ourselves on the diversity of our community amongst families and staff, who represent many different cultural backgrounds and speak a diversity of languages at home, yet each day we all work together to educate and learn in harmony. We offer a number of language electives where student not only learn language acquisition but also the culture of nations who speak those languages.

Our curriculum of course is delivered in English and covers aspects of the history of the First Nations People, culture and art.

Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world. By participating in cultural diversity activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds belong to this nation and enrich it.

In Term one some of our primary students took part in our annual Harmony Day Poster competition. All of the artworks are sent to Moving Forward Together, NSW.

Moving Forward Together is a social initiative by various community groups committed to creating a better understanding amongst all sectors of the community for a vision of living in harmony. It is based on the philosophy of a decent society and caters to all people regardless of colour, origin, culture or religion.
